Ravelo Stopped in Washington!

Newark's Jerson Ravelo suffered another devastating setback last night when he was stopped by Maxim Vlasov in the third round of a bout aired on ESPN 2's Friday Night Fights. Ravelo accepted the bout on short notice and was clearly not himself from the opening bell.

Vlasov was successful when fighting Ravelo in close range and decked 2000 Dominican Olympian hard with a monstrous hand in the third round. The game Ravelo surprisingly made it back to his feet at the count of 9 but was in no condition to continue, forcing Referee Jeff Macaluso to stop the bout at 1:12.

GSFS was notified by Ravelo just minutes after the bout that he plans to continue his career but will no longer accept bouts on short notice.

Vlasov improved to 18-0 (9 KO's) with the victory. Ravelo, who has been stopped in three of his last six, falls to 20-5 (12).

  1. Jerson-Its time to hang em up!! You dont need this sport anymore!! Its time to go a different direction in life. Your just going to get hurt. This is an unforgiving sport and for what? To make a couple of nickels and dimes. You had a good run Jerson. I think you did enough to get in the NJ Hall of Fame.

  2. Matt-Its people like you that give Jerson false hope and you will have blood on your hands if something happens to him! You let this guy beleive he has something left! You make excuses for him- "He was clearly not hiself from the opening bell"-He hasnt been himself in years, do you hear the way he talks now?? "He took the fight on short notice" -Well from what Jerson says on his facebook page he is in shape to go 15rounds with Sugar Ray Leanord in 1982 "The game Ravelo" thats a nice way to say he got up....Whats wrong with you Matt? Call it how it is! Jerson is a shot fighter who is living in his imaginary world where he is a top contender. Its time to tell him that ITS OVER!!! GET OUT NOW!!! I totally agree with NJ Fight Fan-Jerson needs to hang the gloves up! And Matt maybe its time to grow up a little, What you write has a huge affect on someones life. Dont give false hope just because someone is your friend

  3. Thank you for the comments. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Jerson isn't the same figter he was on the way up. With that said, his last bout was a clear decision victory against a tough journeyman in Willis Lockett.

Against Vlasov I definitely expected more out of Ravelo and had he been properly prepared, he COULD have done a lot more. I am not making an excuse for him. A loss is a loss, but Vlasov is nothing special and any decent trainer could figure a guy like that out if they had the proper time to prepare.

  4. Look at your words! He won a clear decision against a tough JOURNEYMAN!! JOURNEYMAN!! JOURNEYMAN!! Not a tough CONTENDER!! If Vlasov is nothing special then Jerson is nothing special as well!! Tell the truth!

ANSWER ME THIS! SHOULD JERSON RETIRE? DO YOU THINK HE IS STILL HEALTHY IF HE CONTINUES TO FIGHT? AND I DONT MEAN PHYSICALLY,I MEAN IN HIS HEAD!HE IS SHOT!!CMON-TRAIN CORRECTLY??JERSON FIGHTS HIS TRAINERS MORE THEN HE FIGHTS HIS OPPONENTS!HE GOES THROUGH TRAINERS LIKE YOU GO THROUGH TIOLET PAPER.
