Rocco Salimbene won his second State Junior Olympic title last week after defeating Asbury Park's Allen Taylor in the championship match. The victory qualifies him for a trip to the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY. This will be his last JO tournament before moving to the men's division in the fall.
Salimbene is trained by Shawn Darling, who also heads training duties for top amateur Bobby McCarthy and pro Deroy Beaton.
