Jorge Diaz to fight 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy Tomorrow!!!
Garden State Fight Scene received word that New Brunswick based Super Bantamweight Jorge Diaz will take a massive step up in competition to challenge 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy on tomorrow's Latin Fury card. Diaz, 9-0 (6 KO's), has been impressive of late, most recently dominating Guadalupe De Leon in May.
The Miami based Cuban has an 8-1 professional record with 1 knockout and is moving up from Bantamweight.
It’s a good fight for Jorge", said Diaz' trainer Mike Skowronski. "He was a good amateur but so was Jorge. Jorge was in camp with Juanma (WBO Super Bantamweight champion Juan Manuel) Lopez and sparred with a lot of good lefties so this was the right fight. Barthelemy is a smaller guy and this (fight) will show us what Jorge has."
The Diaz-Barthelemy fight is taking place tomorrow night on the off-tv portion of Latin Fury 12 at Madison Square Garden.
