Crawford stopped in 9 by Smith

Henry Crawford's rise up the Welterweight division unfortunately hit a screeching halt on Friday night. Paterson's Crawford was stopped in 9 rounds by underrated Antwone "The Truth" Smith of Miami, FL. The two time New Jersey Golden Gloves Champion got off to a fast start but Smith came on in the middle rounds, dropping and nearly putting away Crawford in the sixth. During that very same round, a dazed Crawford ate a ton of leather and likely would have not made it to the bell had the referee not been overly lenient. The game Crawford hung on and dug deep but trainer Mikey "Red" Skowronski stopped the bout following the 9th round as Crawford came back to the corner in bad shape.

Crawford falls to 22-1-1 (9 KO's) with the defeat.

The bout was aired in Shobox: The Next Generation.

  1. Mike Red Skowronski is the worst trainer. He was too busy tryin to look cool on TV with his Kango hat rather then give his fighter good advice..seriously what year is it...someone needs to tell him it aint 2004 anymore. Looks like a Jersey Shore retard.

  2. I don't think you can blame Mike for the loss. If anything, he must be given credit for making the right call and stopping the bout after the 9th round.

Mike has a good reputation in North New Jersey and trains most of the up and coming fighters in the area.

  3. well to bad for them!!and your crazy to think he did a good job himself, that red dude was out of control himself in the corner and after that sixth round the right call should have been to stop it then and there! He sucks and all the other "upcoming fighters in the area" will go down just the same as Crawford.Watch! and see!

  4. You can't pass judgement over one fight and your Kangol hat comment just solidifies that you are some jealous loser or a failure a being a trainer yourself.
Mike Red is a great trainer and you will eat your words in due time. He is working with some great fighters at the moment.
