With a meaningful bout still evading him, North Bergen resident Carlos "El Olympico" Tamara will head overseas for a bout on October 16. The former Flyweight world title challenger will fight in his hometown of Barranquilla, Colobia to face 40 fight veteran Alfonso De La Hoz over ten rounds in the co-featured bout of the evening.
According to manager Nelson Fernandez, Tamara will return December 5 in Puerto Rico if all goes well. Fernandez also notified GSFS that Tamara's promoter Universal Promotions is currently discussing a "box off" tournament with the WBO for an interim Junior Flyweight championship due to an injury sidelining regular champion Ivan Calderon.
