Mike Arnaoutis-Tim Coleman December 3 in NYC!

Multiple sources informed GSFS that former world title challenger "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis, 22-3-2 (10 KO's), will meet Baltimore's Tim "Pit Bull" Coleman, 16-1-1 (4 KO's), December 3 in New York City.

Coleman pounded out an impressive UD over perennial gatekeeper Martinus Clay on July 25, avenging a 2007 draw. Both men have only been defeated in nationally televised bouts.

Arnaoutis and Coleman will meet in a ten or twelve round bout at The Manhattan Center. The card is promoted by Star Boxing.

Garden State residents Deroy Beaton and Chris Green Head to Mohegan Sun This Saturday!

Asbury Park's Chris "Smooth Operator" Green and Toms River's Deroy "Guyanese Warrior" Beaton will each spend their Halloween night in Connecticut looking to wreck havoc at Mohegan Sun Casino.

Beaton, 1-0, takes on unbeaten local favorite Edwin Soto 1-0 (1 KO), over four rounds at Junior Welterweight. Beaton is the definition of a late bloomer in the sport. The 32 year old Guyanese native laced up a pair of gloves for the first time less than three years ago and only had 20 amateur fights. GSFS was on hand for Beaton's debut, a four round decision victory over crowd favorite Jason Sia.

Green, 3-1-1 (1 KO), challenges 6-0 (2 KO's) Frank Trader in a four round Lightweight contest. Green's most recent bout to date was a six round decision over Luquan Lewis in August. The 23 year old Trader most recently scored a unanimous decision victory over rugged veteran Francisco Palacios.

Diaz, Wolak win impressively; Torres stunned at the Garden!

Super Bantamweight Jorge “The Kid” Diaz of New Brunswick scored a highlight reel knockout over 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy last night at Madison Square Garden. Diaz pressed Barthelemy from the opening bell, working both the body and head of his experienced opponent. Barthelemy had moments of success while boxing from a distance but couldn’t handle the pressure of the local favorite. Diaz unloaded a monstrous left hook in the sixth round, putting Barthelemy down for the count.

The Miami based Cuban remained on the canvas for a few minutes after the bout but left the ring under his own power to a standing ovation of the relieved crowd. Time of stoppage was 1:07 of the sixth and final round. Diaz moves to 10-0 (6 KO’s) Barthelemy falls to 8-2 (1 KO).

“I expected him to hurt Barthelemy earlier” said Mike Skowronski, Diaz’ trainer. “He went to work in the fifth and sixth round and finished him in fashion.”

Wallington's Pawel Wolak opened up the Latin Fury 12 Pay Per View by stopping former title challenger Carlos Nascimento after five rounds.

Wolak blitzed Nacsimento with hard shots to the body and head while fighting in close quarters. Wolak cut Nascimento in round two over the left eye brow and dropped him in the fourth with a big left hook.

The game and bloody Nascimento came out for the fifth round but things did not go his way as Wolak bullied Nascimento and dropped him with a left to the body. Nascimento’s corner mercifully put an end to the end to evening by stopping the bout in between five and six.

Wolak, 155 1/2 is now 25-1 with seventeen knockouts. Nascimento, 154 lbs of Brazil is now 24-2.

Lightweight Martin Tucker upset previously unbeaten Michael Torres of Jersey City. Torres started well, using his range to box, but Tucker continued to press forward and dropped Torres in rounds five and six of this solid action bout. All three judges scored the contest 57-56 Tucker, of Toledo, Oh, moves to 7-5 (3 KO’s) while the highly touted Torres falls to 13-1 (7 KO’s).

Jorge Diaz to fight 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy Tomorrow!!!

Garden State Fight Scene received word that New Brunswick based Super Bantamweight Jorge Diaz will take a massive step up in competition to challenge 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist Yan Barthelemy on tomorrow's Latin Fury card. Diaz, 9-0 (6 KO's), has been impressive of late, most recently dominating Guadalupe De Leon in May.

The Miami based Cuban has an 8-1 professional record with 1 knockout and is moving up from Bantamweight.

It’s a good fight for Jorge", said Diaz' trainer Mike Skowronski. "He was a good amateur but so was Jorge. Jorge was in camp with Juanma (WBO Super Bantamweight champion Juan Manuel) Lopez and sparred with a lot of good lefties so this was the right fight. Barthelemy is a smaller guy and this (fight) will show us what Jorge has."

The Diaz-Barthelemy fight is taking place tomorrow night on the off-tv portion of Latin Fury 12 at Madison Square Garden.

Crawford stopped in 9 by Smith

Henry Crawford's rise up the Welterweight division unfortunately hit a screeching halt on Friday night. Paterson's Crawford was stopped in 9 rounds by underrated Antwone "The Truth" Smith of Miami, FL. The two time New Jersey Golden Gloves Champion got off to a fast start but Smith came on in the middle rounds, dropping and nearly putting away Crawford in the sixth. During that very same round, a dazed Crawford ate a ton of leather and likely would have not made it to the bell had the referee not been overly lenient. The game Crawford hung on and dug deep but trainer Mikey "Red" Skowronski stopped the bout following the 9th round as Crawford came back to the corner in bad shape.

Crawford falls to 22-1-1 (9 KO's) with the defeat.

The bout was aired in Shobox: The Next Generation.
