2. Anibal Miramontes, former international ring official and commissioner, originally form Buenos Aires, Argentina and a twenty one year New Jersey’s resident. Miramontes is the owner and President of Fight Fax.

4. Robert Hines, originally from Philadelphia, based in Atlantic City, IBF and USBA Jr. middleweight champion. Career 1981-1990, 25-3-1,17 KOs

5. George Khalid Jones, from Paterson. USBA, NABA and IBU light heavyweight champion, Career 1994-2005, 23-3-1,13KO

6. Billy Ketchell, a tough light heavyweight from Milville. Beat Jersey Joe Walcott and drew with him twice. Also beat former champion Pete Latzo. Career 1930-1938, 50-40-12,18KO

7. Art Rush, boxing historian, radio talk show and writer

8. Hilton Whitaker Jr., former boxer, and ring official, with over 15 international fights

9. Eugenia Williams, boxing judge with over 25 international fights

Judah, Simms, O’Brien and Peralta impress at the Rock!

Kath Duva and Main Events promotions held another great night of pugilism last Saturday evening at the prudential center in Newark Heading the card was former undisputed welterweight champion Zab Judah attempting to do the unthinkable and make a comeback to the top of the fight game that he once reined.

At Wednesday’s pre-fight press conference, Zab Judah said he isn’t going to make any predictions and that he and new trainer Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker trained to fight all 12 rounds. With Mike Tyson sitting ringside Judah didn’t need all 12 rounds, as he viciously Ko’ed Kaizer Mabuza (23-7-3) early in round seven to claim the vacant IBF Junior Welterweight crown.

Following a competitive first six rounds, Judah, 41-6, 28 KOs), decked Mabuza with a huge straight left that sent him halfway through the ropes. Mabuza still woozy and staggering had a standing 8 count by referee Sam Viruet, Zab finished like the old Zab by punishing Mabuza before Viruet stopped the fight. “Mabuza was a tough guy “Judah said. This is Zab Judah 3rd straight victory and just put himself in place for a bigger pay day. “Timothy Bradley and Amir Khan are the top of the weight class ill fight anyone if the situation is right” Judah said.

In the televised co-feature, “Marvelous Tarvis Simms outclassed a very game John Mackey over eight rounds. Simms showed world class ring generalship and composure. He controlled the fight with his great movement and straight left hands. Simms, 27-1 (11 KO’s) had Mackie hurt in round 4 and round 7. Mackey, a tough veteran, falls to 13-6-2 while seeing his two fight win streak come to a close. Simms is working his way to a title shot with his second straight win after losing a controversial decision to Allan Green on 5 days notice.

During the early undercard fights, Main Events provided the packed AmeriHealth Pavilion (located inside the Prudential Center) with five bouts featuring local favorites.

Junior Welterweight Jose Peralta of Passaic improved his record to 5 -1 (3 KO’s) with an impressive TKO over Clifford McPherson (2-4-1, 1 KO). Peralta was dominating the fight when McPherson went down after reportedly hurting his hand and didn’t get up.

Five time New York Golden Gloves titlist Shemuel Pagan improved his record to (2-0, 1KO) with a sensational 1st rd KO over Marcos Garcia (0-3) Pagan’s vicious left and right hooks forced Garcia’s corner to throw in the towel just 1:27 after the opening bell.

Hometown favorite Vinny O’Brien of East Hanover earned a TKO in his pro debut over David Navarro (0-1) when Navarro’s corner ended his night by not letting him continue for the 4th round. O’Brien a raw, young and exciting prospect dominated the fight from the bell with his aggressive style. After the stoppage, O’Brien’s mass of fans cheered loudly.


Joseph Crosby (6-1) younger brother to Judah improved his record with an ugly UD win over Greg Hackett (2-6, 1 KO).

Main Events next card is slated for April 9 at the Prudential Center and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Tomasz Adamek and Mike Tyson conqueror Kevin McBride.

Douglin Weighs in for Carrasquillo fight!

Morganville's Denis "Da Momma's Boy" Douglin tipped the scales at 154.5 lbs for tomorrow nights showdown with veteran Doel Carrasquillo, who weighed in at 154 even.

Douglin, 12-0 (8 KO's), is fighting in an off-tv bout as part of an ESPN Friday Night Fights card in Salisbury, MD.

"I'm feeling good and I'm going in this just like every fight," said Douglin. "My goal is to try and get him out of there."

Douglin-Carrasquillo is scheduled for eight rounds.

Adamek-McBride Moved to Newark!

It's official, Adamek-McBride will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Rumors were flying that, Tomasz Adamek, Jersey City, NJ, 43-1, 28KO's, would be fighting in Poland this April. Kathy Duva, Adamek's promoter and Main Events CEO, confirmed that the Polish boxing star will instead return to "The Rock" on April 23rd to take on Irish born, Kevin McBride, Brockton, Massachusetts, 35-8-1, 29 KO's.

"There were a lot of things taken into consideration when choosing this fight. Overall, though, Tomasz was just more comfortable staying at home for this fight," Kathy Duva, CEO Main Events and Adamek's promoter said. "We'll now focus on McBride, and then focus all of our efforts into the big one in September," said Duva. "I think that his fans at Prudential Center will give Tomasz a great sendoff to Poland in this fight, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them in Poland in September."

Most famous for his sixth-round knockout victory over Mike Tyson in '05, McBride will be the largest man that Adamek has ever fought. Adamek will be happy to give his "hometown" fans an opportunity to watch him fight before his scheduled September Klitschko fight.

Adamek-Maddalone Tickets On Sale!

Tickets for the Dec. 9th Tomasz Adamek vs. Vinny Maddalone fight for the IBF International Heavyweight and NABO Heavyweight Titles are now on sale at Prudential Center in Newark.

It will be New Jersey vs. New York when the popular Polish transplant from Jersey City returns to the spectacular Prudential Arena to take on the crowd pleasing knock out puncher. As always, the Adamek contingent is expected to come out in force to cheer on their hero. But this time, Adamek's opponent, who hails from nearby Queens, NY plans to bring along quite a few fans of his own.

"It's always a party when Tomasz appears in Newark," said promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events. "With the added local interest that Maddalone provides, we expect that tickets will move even faster than usual."
