Douglin headed for UK to assist Macklin!

Morganville, NJ (March 28, 2011) - Highly touted junior middleweight Denis “Da Momma’s Boy” Douglin is currently en route to Manchester, United Kingdom where he’ll serve as a primary training partner for top flight middleweight Matthew Macklin in lieu of his April 16 bout with Khoren Gevor.

Douglin, like Gevor, is a skilled southpaw that makes his opponent’s work. The 2008 National Golden Gloves champion is 12-1 with 8 knockouts as a professional and has already provided quality sparring for fighters at the world class level. Last year, the Morganville native received rave reviews when he helped prepare DeAndre Latimore’s for his world title elimination bout against Sechew Powell.

Although his purpose over the next few weeks will be to prepare the rough and tough Macklin for Gevor, the 22 year old views the opportunity as one that will greatly benefit him.

“It’s going to be a great experience,” said Douglin, who was working hard in the gym to make adjustments following a shocking loss to iron fisted spoiler Doel Carrasquillo. “I overlooked my last opponent and working with a world class fighter like Macklin will show me what I have to do to become one of the best.”

Douglin’s return to the squared circle is expected to come in late April or early May.

Douglin to face Carrasquillo!

Morganville, NJ (February 3, 2011) – Unbeaten junior middleweight Denis “Da Mommas Boy” Douglin will look to take another step in the right direction when he battles cement fisted veteran Doel Carrasquillo Friday, February 18 at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.

Douglin, 12-0 (8 KO’s), is scheduled to fight in an eight rounder for the first time as a professional. The Morganville, NJ native stopped his last five opponents, most recently demolishing 11-2 Matt Berkshire in less than two minutes on December 17.

Although his counterpart’s record of 14-17-1 with 12 KO’s doesn’t indicate frequent success, Carrasquillo is a proven spoiler that shattered dreams of notable fighters such as Isam Khalil, Wayland Willingham, Keenan Collins, The Contender’s Aaron Torres and Jorge Melendez. The Lancaster, PA based Puerto Rican is Douglin’s most experienced opponent to date, having also gone toe to toe wit the likes of 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Ricardo Williams, highly touted Willie Nelson, Steve Chambers, unbeaten contender Mike Jones and Tim Coleman amongst others.

“I know he is a very rugged and tough guy, so I am training for a hard eight round fight,” said Douglin, the 2008 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion. “My goal is to knock him out, impress the fans and leave it out of the judges’ hands!”

The Douglin-Carrasquillo bout is part of the untelevised portion of an ESPN Friday Night Fights card promoted by Prize Fight Boxing in association with Global Boxing Promotions.

Douglin Destroys Berkshire!

By E.A. Sirota

Unbeaten junior middleweight prospect Denis “Da Momma's Boy” Douglin of Morganville improved to 12-0, 8 KO after stopping Matt Berkshire in the first of their scheduled six round bout.

Even though he could only find video of one of Berkshire's fights, that was enough for Douglin and his camp (lead by his trainer/mother Saphya) to expose and exploit one of his opponent's shortcomings. Douglin employed a fierce body attack early on and knocked Berkshire down with a well placed right to the ribs. Berkshire fought on, but was floored again later in the first round by a vicious uppercut. Berkshire was able to beat the count, but the referee stopped the fight before he could take any further punishment. “I was able to watch one of his fights on Youtube” Douglin said afterward. “He was hurt by a body shot in that fight too. ”

The stoppage is Douglin's fifth straight KO victory, as well as the sixth first round KO of his career. Berkshire of Morgantown, WV drops to 11-3, 4 KO.
