Ali Tops Adamek-McBride Undercard!

Brooklyn's Sadam "World Kid" Ali, 11-0, 6 KO's, will step up into the co-feature on Saturday, April 9th vs. tough Javier Perez, of Ponce, Puerto Rico, when Tomasz Adamek faces Kevin McBride at Newark's Prudential Center.

Apparently, Main Events matchmakers, Russell Peltz and Jolene Mizzone, have had their work cut out for them trying to match up the former Olympic standout. It seems Ali has struck fear in the hearts of most of the local welterwieght boxers. Mizzone said, "It's ridiculous, you would think his first name was Muhammad!" Perez, who in his last fight scored a unanimous decision over Alexis Cintron, says he has no problem taking on Ali.

The rest of the undercard promises to live up to the benchmark set by the Main Events Brick City Boxing Series, and to continue thrilling local and true boxing fans

New Jersey fighters on the card include Vinny O'Brien of Hanover, Newark's Shakir Dunn, Jersey City native Jose Peralta, Irvington based Rafael Lora.

The April 9th card at Newark's Prudential Center features Tomasz Adamek vs. Kevin McBride in the IBF International/NABO Heavyweight Championship fight. There are 6 undercard fights scheduled, subject to change. The Brick City Boxing Series card is presented by Main Events & Ziggy Promotions. Doors open at 6:45pm, first fight 7:00pm.

Eriksson to battle Smith April 2;Lamanna Returns!

Dover light heavyweight Todd Eriksson informed GSFS that he'll battle undefeated Anthony "The Bull" Smith Saturday, April 2 at Bally's in AC. Eriksson, 2-5-1 (1 KO), spent much of his career fighting on his opponents' turf. Two of his defeats came in AC against Garden State residents Isiah Seldon and Troy Maxwell.

Dubbed as "The Bull", Smith is a perfect 8-0 with 6 KO's as a professional. The Kennett Square, PA native has a bout scheduled for Friday in Deleware and most recently scored a first round stoppage last December.

Eriksson and Smith are slated to duke it out over six rounds.

Millville High School Senior Thomas "Corlflake" Lamanna, 1-0 (1 KO) is slated to face debuting Heath Kline March 18 at Harrah's Casino in Chester, PA in a four round junior middleweight bout.

Adamek-McBride Moved to Newark!

It's official, Adamek-McBride will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Rumors were flying that, Tomasz Adamek, Jersey City, NJ, 43-1, 28KO's, would be fighting in Poland this April. Kathy Duva, Adamek's promoter and Main Events CEO, confirmed that the Polish boxing star will instead return to "The Rock" on April 23rd to take on Irish born, Kevin McBride, Brockton, Massachusetts, 35-8-1, 29 KO's.

"There were a lot of things taken into consideration when choosing this fight. Overall, though, Tomasz was just more comfortable staying at home for this fight," Kathy Duva, CEO Main Events and Adamek's promoter said. "We'll now focus on McBride, and then focus all of our efforts into the big one in September," said Duva. "I think that his fans at Prudential Center will give Tomasz a great sendoff to Poland in this fight, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them in Poland in September."

Most famous for his sixth-round knockout victory over Mike Tyson in '05, McBride will be the largest man that Adamek has ever fought. Adamek will be happy to give his "hometown" fans an opportunity to watch him fight before his scheduled September Klitschko fight.

MIKE TYSON TO ATTEND JUDAH FIGHT IN NEWARK!

At most of Zab Judah fights you are bound to see a star-studded boxing crowd, and Saturday's phenomenal night of boxing is no exception.

Iron Mike Tyson plans to be among the thousands of fans in attendance at Newark's Prudential Center Arena this coming Saturday night, Nov. 6th, to support his close friend and fellow Brooklynite Zab "Super" Judah. Undefeated Argentine knock-out artist Lucas Matthysse will put his perfect 27-0, 25 KO record on the line when he faces Judah in the main event of a show that also will feature ten big undercard bouts.

"I watched Zab in the Gym a few days ago and he looked spectacular--better than I ever seen him before," said the former Baddest Man on the Planet, "I will be at The Prudential Center sitting front and center to support my friend Zab."

Judah is also going to get some in-person support from another New York icon, Dwight "Doc" Gooden, the former NY Mets and NY Yankees pitching great. "I am so excited that Zab is back. I look forward to an entertaining night of boxing on Nov. 6 at Prudential Center."

Also among the celebrities who plan to be in attendance is media personality, Wendy Williams.
