Jorge Diaz To Fight in co-main Event Saturday June 12!

GSFS was notified that highly touted super bantamweight Jorge "Kid" Diaz of New Brunswick will take on unbeaten Jayson Velez in the co-main event of a June 12th card at Madison Square Garden's WaMu Theater.

Diaz, who was originally slated to fight June 5 at Yankee Stadium, is a perfect 13-0 with 8 knockouts. On March 20, he grinded out a gutsy unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Alejandro Velez. The former amateur standout is known for his action packed style and is quickly becoming a fan favorite in the Tri-State area.

Velez is based out of Caguas, Puerto Rico, the same city as his promoter Miguel Cotto. At 12-0 (10 KO's), Velez currents holds the WBC USNBC Super Bantamweight title and looks to be a difficult match up due to his power and three inch height advantage.

In the main event that evening, WBO/Ring Magazine Junior Flyweight titlist Ivan Calderon will reportedly defend his title against Johnriel Casimero. Fox Sports Espanol is slated to televise the card.
