Adamek Open Workout Quotes

"Fighting Kevin McBride is a good test for me. We had a good camp. I am in the ring with Roger every day. I am six, seven weeks training very hard. As you know, Roger changed me a lot. I have more movement. When I punch somebody I hit them up. I am more flexible in the ring, I can change. I feel I can fight anybody and win."

"Size, yes it is very important, but not the best. I'm not short, but when I am fighting I'm moving my head, bending my knees, moving side to side, being flexible, making it hard to touch me. With every fight I think it gets more difficult to hit me."

"I do not look past McBride or take him for granted. This is boxing, one punch can change the situation, just one punch can change everything. This is my test before Klitschko. I respect McBride."

"My weight is natural, now I weigh maybe 215 - 216. I am training hard, 2 times a day. I feel very good, fast when I am at this weight. This is very comfortable for me."

"Roger says every camp I hit stronger because I am more loose and flexible. When I am more loose I am more dynamic. I think when I hit somebody I can hurt him."

"A lot of people say 'why do you fight before the Klitschko fight and take a chance?' You know every fight is a danger, but I can't stay home and sit with nothing to do. I need to practice. Every day I learn a little bit, and a little bit more, this is my way. It will only help me prepare."

"The Solis fight was only two minutes, but two times he hit him (Klitschko) very easy. I think, and Roger said too, a short guy with a tall guy is never a good opponent, because they are difficult. It is difficult to hit (the short guy) because he is down. Valuev said the same thing after fighting Haye; he said he never fought a guy like David. David was like me, we are quick and uncomfortable to fight."

"People say I cannot beat the Klitschko's because I am too short, that I can't fight heavyweight. But when I started fighting heavyweight I beat Arreola, and next Grant, and every fight is better. I love not being the favorite because I want to make it a surprise and become the heavyweight champion."

"I think the worst opponent is a quick opponent because they can do anything. I am faster than a big heavyweight. My legs are very good. This is not the street, it is the ring, whoever is the smartest will win. I will show my class on April 9th and win."

The Adamek - McBride fight will be the main event on the April 9th card at Newark's Prudential Center. The card is presented by Main Events & Ziggy Promotions. Doors open at 6:45pm, first fight 7:00pm.

Tickets are priced at $253, $103, $78, and $53. Tickets are available online at www.ticketmaster.com, Charge-by-phone: 1-800-745-3000, Ticketmaster Express 866-448-7849 and Ticketmaster ticket centers. Tickets are also available at Prudential Center's Box Office.

Adamek vs. McBride will be distributed in the United States and Canada by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 9 PM/ET - 6 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, DISH Network and Avail-TVN and Canada via Viewer's Choice, Bell TV and Shaw Cable PPV for a suggested retail price of only $29.95

Available as an Ustream online PPV exclusive, the live video broadcast of the fight will be offered for $29.95 in U.S. / Canada at http://www.ustream.tv/brickcityboxingUSA and $4.95 Worldwide at http://www.ustream.tv/brickcityboxinginternational.

Pro Debut of Kamil Laszczyk Rescheduled to March 4 in Woodhaven, NY

NORTH BERGEN, NJ (February 28, 2011) – The professional debut of six-time Polish national amateur champion Kamil Laszczyk has been rescheduled for this Friday night, March 4 at the Cordon Bleu Banquet Hall in Woodhaven, New York. The 19-year-old Laszczyk of North Bergen, NJ by way of Wroclaw, Poland is schedule to face Emil Brooks (0-2) of Buffalo, NY in the four-round super-featherweight undercard matchup.

Laszczyk was brought to America by the Global Boxing Foundation late last year after compiling a 110-7 amateur record. It’s a mark of his dedication that he has been living in the gym – literally. He is staying in an apartment complex adjacent to the Global Boxing Gym, which has kept him focused on his training. He is now promoted by Global Boxing Promotions and trained by Aroz “Terrific” Gist.

Laszczyk was scheduled to fight on the undercard of his stablemate Mariusz Wach’s third-round knockout of Jonathan Haggler earlier this month in Newark, NJ but the fight was canceled when his opponent failed to come in on weight.

“I’m happy that I can finally fight,” said the exclusively Polish-speaking Laszczyk through interpreter Kasia Niedzwiecka. “I’m training hard and I’m 100% prepared to give the fans my best performance.”

The show will be promoted by New Legend Boxing Promotions. The Cordon Bleu Banquet Hall is located at 96-01 Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven, NY.

The first bout will begin at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Adamek-McBride Quotes!

Kathy Duva. Main Events, CEO: "April 9th is an important fight for both fighters: in Kevin McBride's case this is a great opportunity for him; in Tomasz's case he has a great opportunity ahead of him in Poland where he has an offer to fight one of the Klitschko brothers in September. But Tomasz does not like to be idle."

"That brings us to Kevin McBride: he is a big man: he is 6"6"; he is very wide; and very tall; and that is the kind of opponent Tomasz needs to face in order to prepare for the bigger challenge if he is successful. There are other people who have faced Kevin and not been so successful; most notably, Mike Tyson. As we know, Kevin is the man who effectively ended Mike Tyson's career. So Tomasz, Main Events and everybody with him, knows what a big challenge this is, not to be taken lightly."

Doug Jacobs, Integrated Sports, PPV :"It's a bargain at $29.95 for pay-per-view. I know there's another Golden Boy/HBO fight that night that's $45 dollars, but I have no doubt that our show is going to be so much more exciting and a better value for you in today's economic times. In every show we've done here at Prudential Center, with Tomasz Adamek, the atmosphere has been fantastic! The atmosphere comes through well on TV, and the under card matches have come through fantastic. It's always an exciting event."

Jerry Quinn, Kevin McBride Mgr: "We know we are the underdogs for this fight, but we were the underdogs for the Mike Tyson fight also, people underestimated us. We're gonna come down here to win. Kevin is training very hard, day and night, and we are definitely looking forward to it. I know Tomasz is a great fighter. We give him a lot of respect, but we're coming here to win."

Kevin Mc Bride: "I'm from Ireland, I'm Irish, and I'm proud to be a fighter. I'm coming here to fight. This is a big fight for me. An Irish painter, Sean Scully, said to me a couple years ago, 'Follow your dream", and that's what I'm going to do, follow my dream."

"This is a great opportunity, for me to show the world I'm a bigger man. You know, if I get into the later rounds with Tomasz Adamek, when I hit him on the chin he's going to think the whole of Poland hit him! Actually, when I fought Mike Tyson and hit him on the chin I thought, 'when I hit him he's gonna think the whole of Ireland hit him', so I had to think of another statement... You know, Pope John Paul, I hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna take the title from Tomasz Adamek, follow my dream, and become world heavyweight champion, first born Irish. It's gonna be a great night and I'm looking forward to it!"

Ziggy Rozalski, Adamek Advisor - "I want to thank Kevin, because I think it's going to be a great fight. When we fought Kevin with Golota he closed both of Golota's eyes. If I didn't tell them in Polish in the corner, 'how many fingers does the referee have?' he would have probably won, so I say, thank you, but this is going to be a great fight!"

Roger Bloodworth, Adamek Trainer (celebrating his birthday): "I couldn't quite believe I was 31 today... We are taking this fight very serious, because Kevin can punch. Kevin's Irish and he comes to fight. Tomasz is the type of fighter that can't stay idle. He has to stay busy, so we asked for somebody big and they got us somebody big! We have all the respect in the world for Kevin and his corner, and we thank him for taking this fight."

Tomasz Adamek: "This is my next step before Klitschko. My wife says I have ADHD, I cannot sit still at home with nothing doing, this is my life."

"I love fighting at Prudential Center. Everyone lives very close. It feels like my home." When referring to the amount of snow NJ has received this winter, Adamek said, "I can use only shovel, because when my neighbor sees snow blower he smiles, so I only shovel, its good training!"

"Somebody asked me why I am fighting before I have a guaranteed title fight, and I said, 'I want to be active, this is my job. I can't stay home 8 -9 months. So we made a fight - thank you Kevin for taking this fight.' Tomasz added, "He's a big man, we respect him. I'm preparing with Roger, it's our second week in the Pocono's. We prepare very hard and I am very healthy. I want to be the champion. I am serious, this is my life, this is my way, this is my destiny."

Majewski looks to shine in front Polish fans

By Kyle Kinder (in association with 15rounds.com

Tomorrow night, Newark New Jersey’s Prudential Center will once again transform into “Little Poland” as thousands of Polish fight fans will flock to 165 Mulberry Street to watch Tomasz Adamek square off against New York’s Vinny Maddalone.

But before the legions of Polish fans witness Adamek do battle with Maddalone, they’ll have the opportunity to cheer on another Polish-born, New Jersey-based boxer.

Welterweight prospect Patrick Majewski will look to add another win to his already perfect record when he faces off against Lawrence, Massachusetts’ Eddie “Thunder” Caminero in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Majewski (14-0, 9 KO) was born in Radom, Poland, but now resides in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where six of his fourteen professional bouts have taken place.

In his last bout in October, the Polish-transplant defeated New Mexico’s Joseph Gomez (17-3-1, 8 KO) by seventh round stoppage in Kissimmee, Florida.

Majewski first hurt Gomez with a devastating left hook in the fourth round. Three rounds later, Majewski hurt his counterpart again and didn’t let him off the hook. Referee Frank Gentile stepped in and saved Gomez from absorbing further punishment, stopping the bout at the 1:50 mark of round seven.

But even after an impressive performance against tough opposition, Majewski and his team knew there was plenty of room for improvement.

“I made many mistakes my last fight,” Majewski said. “So my trainers — we tried to work on the leg movement, more head movement, and of course, more speed.”

Majewski will have a chance to showcase his sharpened skills against Caminero in front of an expected crowd of over ten thousand fans.

Caminero (7-3, 7 KO), who practices his trade under the watchful eye of “Irish” Micky Ward, has proven he is a rugged competitor who can out-will and out-punch his opponents.

In his last two bouts, Caminero scored upset victories over two seperate opponents, who prior to the bouts, sported a combined record of 14-1.

Caminero’s most recent fight took place in August in Brooklyn, New York against crowd favorite, and previously unbeaten fighter, Joe Smith, Jr.

The Massachussets native served as nothing more than a moving heavy bag for Smith in the opening round, as Caminero found himself with his back against the ropes, standing on unsteady legs.

Caminero was able to gather himself and survive the round, however, and by the third round, he began a relentless campaign against Smith’s body, which visibly took its toll on the taller Smith.

With blood dribbling out his mouth and the fourth round about to come to a close, Smith signaled to his corner he could no longer continue. Earlier in the round, Smith suffered a broken jaw courtesy of the heavy-handed Caminero, who notched his second straight victory.

Majewski is well aware of Caminero’s stubbornness inside the ropes, but is confident that his preparation leading up to this fight will result in a victory tomorrow night.

“I know that he’s tough, but I’m tough too,” said Majewski. “I’ve been training hard for this fight and I’m going to bring my work into the ring.”

Tomorrow night will mark the third time Majewski will fight at the Prudential Center and the second time he will fight on the undercard of an Adamek-headlined event. He knows there will be thousands of fans decked out in Poland’s colors of red and white who will be cheering his name. He also knows he cannot let the crowd become a distraction against a heavy-handed opponent like Caminero.

“It is a big feeling [to fight in front of the Polish fans], I’m really excited to fight over there,” Majewski said. “But during the fight you really have to focus on your opponent — don’t really worry about the crowd or the fans.”

Majewski, who turns 31 later this month, knows that one loss may result in a significant setback to his career and doesn’t plan on letting Caminero play spoiler.

With regards to his approach towards his fight tomorrow night, Majewski said, “Focus on your opponent then worry about the fans. Then after the fight we can celebrate together.”

Wach Excited for Friday's Fight!

North Bergen, NJ - Unbeaten heavyweight boxer Mariusz "The Polish Giant" Wach will face experienced journeyman Galen "Bad Boy" Brown this Friday November 12 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

The six-round heavyweight bout will be a part of “Homecoming King”, presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc (CES) in association with DiBella Entertainment and Twin River .

The 30-year-old Wach (22-0, 10 KO) of North Bergen, NJ by way of Krakow, Poland was scheduled to face Kevin Burnett on last week's Zab Judah vs. Lucas Matthysse undercard in Newark, NJ but was disappointed when his opponent never showed up to the weigh-in. In prime shape, Wach now turns his attentions to the 29-year-old Brown (33-14-1, 20 KO) of Saint Joseph, Missouri.

"I'm very excited to fight again in America," says Wach, who is making his first appearance in the United States in two years. "We have been training very hard ever since I arrived and I want to show the people what I can do."

Wach, who is surprisingly swift of hands and feet despite standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 260 pounds, is a veteran of 90 amateur fights, winning two gold medals at the Individual Polish Championships and a silver medal in the 2004 European Union Championships. Wach was also an alternate on the 2004 Polish Summer Olympics team that traveled to Athens, Greece. He has also trained alongside some of the best professionals in the world, serving as a sparring partner for former heavyweight champions Samuel Peter and Ruslan Chagaev.

Introducing Mariusz Wach!

North Bergen’s Mariusz Wach came quite a long way on his journey to the Garden State; from Krakow, Poland to be exact. The 6’7 260 lb heavyweight sports a perfect 22-0 record with 10 KO’s and was a crowd favorite in his native country, where he racked up 15 victories. This still wasn’t enough to satisfy him.

Wach, whose surname is pronounced vahk, entered the United States in September 2010 with his sights set on becoming the first Polish heavyweight champion. Dubbed as the “Polish Giant”, Wach is working tirelessly at becoming a more complete fighter under the watchful eye of Paterson’s Aroz “Terrific” Gist at Global Boxing Gym. I had the opportunity to catch up with the soft spoken big man, who fights this Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark vs Kevin Burnett.

Garden State Fight Scene: On Saturday you will be taking a fight against an experienced opponent in Kevin Burnett. What do you know about him?

Mariusz Wach: I know the basics about him such as his height and weight. I also know he has fought some good opponents.

GSFS: Have you seen any tapes?

MW: Yes I saw his fight with (Odlanier) Solis.

GSFS: You have had most of your fights in Poland however there is a large Polish community in North Jersey. Are you going to feel like you’re at home at the Prudential Center even though its more than 3,000 miles from Poland?

MW: Yes, I expect a lot of people to come to the fight because Polish people love boxing and sports in general.

GSFS: You’ve been boxing since 2005 and are closing in on becoming a contender. Do you think that a fight against a former world champion or contender type opponent will come in the near future?

MW: The most important thing right now is the fight against Burnett. After that, I will see what is next.

GSFS: Since moving to New Jersey from Poland you’ve been training at Global Boxing. A lot of guys come in and out of this gym to workout. Compare the training here to how it was in Poland.

MW: There are a lot of different boxers here so I have to train hard to prove how good I am. In Poland there were only a few different fighters to train with so (the training) wasn’t as hard. In Poland when you lose four fights it’s like the end of the road, but in the US, if you lose four fights against great opponent it's not that big of a deal.

GSFS: Describe your style and why fans should look forward to seeing you fight.

MW: I would say I have a style a bit like Klitschko. The jab is a very important part of my fighting.

GSFS: I’m sure that you are well aware that Tomasz Adamek is widely regarded as the best Polish heavyweight. Adamek fought Andrew Golota in Poland and it was a huge fight. If the two fought in Newark, it would have been big as well. Can you see yourself fighting Adamek or do you two have a friendship that would prevent that?

MW: If they made me an offer to fight Adamek, I would take it! This is business and this is boxing. I think Tomasz is going to fight (one of the) Klitschko’s soon, so why would he fight me?

GSFS: What can fans expect from you against Kevin Burnett?

MW: I am very confident about this fight and am going to give the fans a good show. I hope all my fans are there to watch the fight.
