Junior middleweights “King” Gabriel Rosado and Jamaal “Da Truth” Davis take their all-Philadelphia rivalry sixty miles down the expressway when they collide in a scheduled 12-round showdown Saturday evening, Feb. 26, in the Grand Ballroom of Bally’s Atlantic City. The Rosado-Davis match tops a seven-bout card which begins at 7.30 p.m.
Rosado, 25, comes into the match off an eight-round decision over Jose "Stinger" Medina, of Tilton, NH, on Dec. 9 at the Prudential Center in Newark. After losing the first two rounds, Rosado knocked Medina down in round three and dominated the rest of the contest to earn a unanimous decision.
The victory over Medina raised Rosado’s five-year pro record to 15-5, 8 K0s. His biggest career wins have come over former IBF world junior middleweight champion Kassim Ouma and over veteran contender Saul Roman. He has lost to Fernando Guerrero (who was on the floor), Derek Ennis (for the USBA title) and Alfredo Angulo.
Davis, 29, dropped a hard-fought 10-round decision to Joel Julio, of Colombia, in his last fight Aug. 21 at the Prudential Center. A pro for seven years, Davis has a 12-7 record with six knockouts and wins over Mustafah Johnson, Josh Onyango and Manuel Guzman.
Never afraid to take on the best, Davis has lost decisions to Peter Kid Chocolate Quillin, Donald Orr and Ossie Duran.
Each man has been stopped once: Angulo KO’d Rosado in two rounds and Richard Pierson halted Davis in six.
Six additional bouts complete the card, which begins at 7.30 p.m. The show is being promoted by Peltz Boxing Promotions, Inc.
