Vinan to battle Mezzaache Saturday in AC!
Manager Jose Rosario informed us that Newark's Carlos Vinan will battle WBC #2 rated featherweight Anthony Mezzaache, 18-5-3 (4 KO's), of France Saturday at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in AC.
Vinan, 9-8-4 (1 KO), is far tougher than his record indicates. The Ecuadorian import has impressive victories over three unbeaten fighters including well regarded Eric Hunter. He also drew with unbeaten Eloy Perez, well regarded Anthony Flores and defeated Philly brawler Victor Vasquez.
GSFS caught up with Vinan as he was working out in Newark. Here is what he had to say.
(About Mezzaache as an opponent) "I have seen some of his fights on Youtube. He likes to stand there in there and fight, so this is convenient for my style."
(On what he has to do to win) "I have to start off with the jab and then keep throwing punches while applying pressure"
(On regularly fighting as an opponent on other promoters' cards) "There is no pressure on me, I just go out there and fight"
EDITORS NOTE: Mezzaache is promoted by Star Boxing, who put together the fight card. Vinan-Mezzaache is scheduled for 8 rounds.
